The other kids were children too, why would they be responsible for his bills 7 years later? It is a terrible accident but there is no fault to be had, JMO.

America's Funniest Home Videos featured people who did MANY stupid things that could have resulted in tragedy, as does Tosh.O and other shows like it. It is almost always young guys. I never liked AFHV but a majority of viewers apparently did. So kids grow up watching even adult men do stupid things, but we expect them to know better.
The article states the below. The guy was a 19 year old rugby player in high school. What story are you talking about? He is 27 years old now.

Sam Ballard, 19 years old at the time, ate a garden slug at a 2010 birthday party that everybody at first thought was safe and harmless, however later caused the high schooler to become paralyzed and unable to convey or care for himself.

I don’t remember what I read that said 12. In any case it doesn’t change my sympathies. Young guys have been doing reckless things since forever and it has nothing to do with their parents not teaching them right. 99.9% if the time nothing happens? Who the heck would think eating a bug would be this dangerous?

What do food sanitation standards have to do with eating a slug?
