I have not nor will I in the future contribute to anyone's gofundme. Too many scams out there. If someone we know is hurting or going through a traumatic period and needs help, we reach out to them personally. Not through a greedy, money making organization.
Ben Buckley, 32, said he was forced to cut his hours at work to help take care of his four children when his partner, Kirsty Wickings, became ill during a “complicated” pregnancy. Wickings gave birth to a healthy daughter earlier this month, but the mother was hospitalized a number of times for a lung infection and had to be put on oxygen.
Seems like good enough reason to me. And if his friends were willing to donate under the circumstances, more power to him.
I will not donate to any GoFundMe plea. I don't trust them.
I donated once for a very close friend's whose dog needed expensive surgery to save her life. He and his wife had just had a baby and both (college educated) lost their jobs at the same time right before the dog got sick. A bunch of us raised the needed funds in small amounts from each.
Within a few months they both had new jobs, the dog was doing fine, and the baby was starting to crawl. I was happy to chip in $25 to help them.
The above article states that his family wished that they would have asked them first before doing the GoFundMe.
Like another poster stated this dude should stop having kids. A father/husband has a BIG emotional, mental and financial responsibility to his wife, kids and himself. It is not a job for ALL men. It is ok to not have kids or get married.
.........responsibility to his wife, kids and himself. It is not a job for ALL men. It is ok to not have kids or get married.
It rather looks like she is not actually his wife. The article quoted calls her his partner.
I don't care if he asks for donations for Christmas as long as he is honest about what the money will be used for. Is it a true story? Who knows. I'm for sure not going to do an in depth investigation.
People can decide for themselves whether or not they want to give their money away.
People have been impersonating this man on Go Fund Me and setting up different funds in his name. One of them is the "Ben Buckley birthday fund." He's trying to get them to stop and says he won't be setting up any more GFMs.
I guess I should reconsider my idea for a GoFundMe for a Ferrari...
