To me, this is not about how the victims react but about sickos who are preying in society doing this kind of thing.

Probably ridiculously hard to find unless you know her name, considering the plethora of nude videos on the internet.

a search for "hilton nude lawsuit" brings up lots of stuff about scantily clad Paris Hilton.

Honestly, what's this person so upset about if no one can even find the video?

People who personally know her seeing it.

Or job interviewers, etc.

Virtually anyone who knows her actual name.

I once had a mugshot taken (for something petty) and was pretty pissed when I saw my face pop up on multiple sites by doing a simple Google search. I got them removed, but it was a process.

Yea, their market is guys who do these kinds of things or people that stalk others, what a great industry to be a part of.

The little that I've researched suggest that because this is a franchise..Hilton may not be on the hook for this transgression. A franchise entity usually hires and pays out of its own funds, thus creating an independent status on tax and billings. I could be wrong though.

I do agree that this ladys' privacy and non consent are a huge issue. I'm miffed that with technology the extortionist hasn't been identified. Or was he?

If he hasn't, I doubt it will be long before he is.

Also, interesting information about the franchise. Thanks for sharing.

The CNN article has more information. It doesn't appear they know who the perpetrator is - they are guessing it was an employee.

I wonder though. Since the camera and videos were from one room only, it seems possible the perp is a former guest of the hotel who planted the camera. Then, he could watch the videos remotely and see someone he wants to harass, and get there in time to scoop up the receipt that gets slipped under the door in the wee hours and get her contact info. Or follow the guest to their car and get their license plate.

Unless they can identify the person posting those videos, this is likely to continue. The hotel chain only learned about this Monday, so the victim went through a lot of harassment before even contacting them? Just for the sake of other victims, seems like she'd alert the hotel that her room is bugged.

How many hundreds of people have also been videotaped in that room?

The camera is sending/sent data somewhere. The posts to porn sites are also coming from somewhere.

Any good IT geek should be able to trace this fairly easily.

He will get caught, regardless of whether or not he's an employee. Chances are he's not, like you said.
