This is the second time I've seen you advocate violence to solve a problem. Don't you have any other tools in your shed when there's a problem with people?
LOL, I guess I could just invite him over to have milk and cookies in my house while we talk about the real meaning of Christmas being in our hearts. And I wasn't suggesting "violence", I wouldn't want anyone to shoot, stab, or beat this guy with a club. But a few big old Dads firmly and strongly suggesting this guy go away, and/or inviting him to go outside so they could discuss it further, would not be inappropriate. IHMO, the implication or even light application of some physical coercion is not "violence'. Read Artillery's posts, he's right on the money. The threat or implication of physical force, along with letting an idiot know that his bad behavior won't be tolerated or condoned, is often enough. By no means should the Dads beat him senseless, God already took care of that part anyway. No need for a shouting match, etc.. If the guy gets violent himself, then the cops have cause to trespass or remove him.
And before you start talking about "online cajones", I worked as a doorman on weekends for four or five years when I was younger. It was in a "dance club", not a biker bar, but we had our share of incidents. In all that time, I never had to punch anyone, and I was never punched myself. The owners did not want that, it was bad for business, so they always had "enough" guys on staff to keep trouble to a minimum. But occasionally, someone who had too many adult beverages needed to be escorted out, and the easiest way to do that is get two or three big guys and simply "bulldoze" them out the door, then turn around and walk back inside. The lead doorman used to be a prison guard, he was probably 350 lbs., and once he started waling toward you, there was no where for you to go except the same way he was going, LOL. The movie "Road House" was fantasy, but the training talk Swayze gave his guys was absolutely correct - they're being paid to STOP trouble, not to start it. Be polite, but firm - walk them out, tell them that they're welcome to come back another day, then come back inside. I wasn't able to read the article (paywall), but in my mind's eye, this guy is similar to the knuckleheads who videotape cops while baiting them with foul language, probably hoping to become the successful plaintiff in a lawsuit. I'd love to see what you have in your "toolbox" to deal with these kinds of sociopathic idiots, who never received enough of daddy's attention when they were children.
Had some idiot woman get on the train last night with what appeared to be her entire family, coming from some event. The rest of them seemed normal and heavily embarrassed as she, apparently a bit nutty, began shouting how there is no Santa and how we were all going to wonder who she was after she left.
No, we weren't, you idiot nutcase. You only stuck out to me because you made such a spectacle of yourself and the family seemed mortified and unprepared for it.
There may or may not be a Santa, but this is the guy Krampus exists for; he generally punishes children, but might make an exception for childish "adults".
Well, there may not really be a Santa Claus, but this guy definitely proved that there's a nasty-old Grinch. Too bad somebody's Dad didn't take him outside and gift him with a little Christmas Spirit tune-up, drinking his eggnog through a straw for a couple of weeks might do wonders for his New Year's manners.
So a guy may have an issue with kids being told to believe in some obviously fake being and your response to the man exercising his first amendment right is to viciously assault him.
Seems reasonable.
What treatment would you get in 2019 to improve your manners in 2020? If stating a fact gets you a vicious beating, then I'm curious as to what the medicine for a vicious beating is.

"Vicious beating": LOL, where do you guys get your life experience from, anyway? I've witnessed some beatdowns in my life, and that is not what I'm advocating, at all. Haven't you ever seen anyone walked out of a bar or house party, and if they get grabby, get body-slammed? And if they are confronted properly, there would likely be no need to even pop them, people typically back off when faced with odds that they know they cannot prevail over. I watched a big local cop deal with a guy not all that long ago who decided not to comply with instructions - the cop grabbed him by the arm and scruff of the neck and "walked" him, I don't think the guy's feet touched the ground three times in the ten steps between the sidewalk and the squad - absolutely proper use of force, IMO. And if you try and hit a cop, I think the saying "Play stupid games, win stupid prizes" applies. Sometimes "using one's words" just isn't enough when you're working with the drunk and disorderly. What kind of coddled existence did you have growing up, anyway? I guess the people I knew weren't the kind to wear helmets while riding bicycles, but I always thought there were just ordinary guys with difficult jobs. Now, I'm no fighter myself, I'm old, decrepit, and very polite - but I realize there are plenty of off-duty cops, rugby players, and ex-linebackers running around out there that don't suffer fools lightly, my advice is not to try to ruin their kid's party.
Man yells, "There is no Santa," and some people wanna attack the man.
But if he yells, "There is no God," people just ignore him.
What's the difference?
