The mother of the 9-year-old is right. That dame had no business putting her hands on anyone else's child. And why did the bus driver allow her to get on?

The allegation that her kid hit that woman's child doesn't excuse it, either. One thing has nothing to do with the other.

I agree. You absolutely can arrest a 9 year old.

This story is very light on details, but I'd like to see the damage done to the 9 year old's face. His face is fuzzed out in the interview - if he had no damage, I'd say fair's fair. You punched a little kid, and got punched back by someone bigger than you.

I suspect the mother of the kindergartner accomplished several things. 1. No one, including the 9 year old, will mess with her child again. 2. It's likely the 9 year old will not punch anyone else younger than himself in the near future.

I'm one of those people who thinks a smack in the face isn't the most evil thing one person can do to another person, especially if it's deserved.

I'm still a little bewildered at the mother of the older child's response. Does she not hear how ironic it sounds, that she's outraged that her child was punched in the face?

Reminds me of the Cowardly Lion in The Wizard of Oz, when Toto nipped him. "My goodness, what a fuss you're making" - Dorothy

No surprises here. And what the hello kind of bus driver allowed this to happen???
Let's not blame the bus driver. I am sure if he/she could have prevented it or removed the insane person, they would have.

No, adults can't hit other people's kids. What insanity...

Bus driver---I am sure he is at minimum wage. I hope he has moved on to a safer job. You said it--an enraged, uncivilized monstrosity--do you really think he could have stopped it? It is a tragedy.

How much do you want to bet that 9 year old will be in prison by the time he is 25 years old? I am sure that his mother will try to tell you that he is a sweet good kid. lol

The bus door should never have been opened for her. She no doubt had steam comin' out of her ears when she approached it. That kind of anger was evident before she crossed the threshold of that bus.

Once that steam roller was on the bus, I doubt the female bus driver could have stopped her. But I don't see her trying to usher the other children off to safety. It appears that the driver isn't even on the bus. She left the children behind and made her escape. Fire her!

This incident needs to be deeply examined by school administers. If there isn't a rule about not permitting angry adults to board the school bus, there needs to be. Based on the rapid decline of the human race, maybe the bus drivers need to be equipped and trained with tazers or billy clubs. Our children deserve better protection from sick people like her.

The size disparity between a nine year old and a five year old (around 25% taller and 50% heavier) is the same as a nine year old boy and a small adult woman (5'4", 100 lbs).

I can't figure out how the nine year old was on the bus home in the first place. If he punched a five year old hard enough to bloody his nose, he should have been suspended from school as soon as the bus arrived at school. He certainly should have been kicked off the bus for some period of time.

The whole world's gone mad and the only person I feel sorry for in this scenario is the kindergartner.

I agree. An adult shooting the kid is OK under the right circumstances, but the adult should never hit the kid.

A public sector employee, of course.
