The girls wandered off into a forest, hopefully they will be found soon.

A massive search is underway in Humboldt county for two young sisters who wandered away from their home.

Leia and Caroline Carrico, ages 8 and 5, were last seen at about 2:30 p.m. Friday afternoon outside their house, located on the 3000 block of Twin Trees Road, in the town of Benbow.

Wonderful news, the Carrico sisters have been found, alive and well, by two searchers this morning, the sheriff announced at a just-concluded press conference.

The children were about a mile and a half from their home. No doubt more details will follow, but the children were ambulatory and able to get onto two searchers' ATVs with minimal assistance for the ride out. They have been reunited with their family and are being checked out, but seem to be fine. Whew, what a relief!

Did anyone read the details of the story?? That was crazy the little girls used some skills they learned in 4H club?? or some such class to help survive the ordeal , they drank water from leaves and huddled under some bushes for warmth...smart kids, glad they're okay

Reminds me of a story told to me by one of my cousins, that involved her grandma, and my grandma.

My grandma was a few years older than her grandma, and my grandma was married at this point, I'm guessing around 1920 maybe.

My cousin's grandma, and her sister wanted to ride horses. My grandma told her that there was a farm nearby (this is rural Oklahoma) that had a friendly horse, and maybe the owner would let them ride the horse, if they asked nice. So...cousin's mom and her sister go looking for this farm. And they walked and they walked and they walked, looking for this farm.

And they didn't come home, because they were lost, and people were panicking. They were actually found in Arkansas. LOL
