Florida stories only get in the news because it is one of the few states (only?) that has these things as public records, as in any criminal activity is not hidden or anything, and is available for public view. Most other states do not have this. Many media outlets browse through this public database daily for such stories to publish.

Exactly. Add to the fact that it's the third most populous state in the country, and PI-YAH!
Every time I think of Florida, I can't help but think of that guy high on bath salts who ate a homeless man's face off and a copycat young guy who tried to eat this couple in their garage. Some of Florida's stories seem more bizarre than most.
All in one convenient time zone. But wait! There's more...

& it's in the Eastern Time Zone - so the national nets can get fresh news just in time for their national telecasts. Since FL is supplying a lot of these stories these days, have West Coast stories fallen out of favor? I don't watch the national nets enough to be sure, but that's my suspicion.

And the homeschooled plastic surgeon who filled transsexuals butts with glue and cement, causing one death...
Y'all realize this is a "stand your ground" case, right? But she didn't have a gun, so she went after him with a bat. The article says she didn't call police right away, she grabbed her bat, and went to the door to confront the perp. I wonder, if she'd called police instead of confronting the perp, if the police would have bothered to respond to a car break-in call. Seems like small potatoes. Car break-ins are so common in some cities, I think they don't bother to respond, or maybe it depends on if there are any cops available at the time of the crime.
Does anyone here know, at what point in the course of events, she called police? Just curious. After she whacked the guy? Before?
