Sorry, but it seems like this woman had some serious issues if taking the elevator down to the 1st floor was too difficult of a task to complete without assistance.

This is my thought. She had problems processing the information thrown at her as she was leaving. They should have a protocol for escorting releasee to the elevator and at minimum, pressing correct button before leaving the person.
Hospitals stay with a released person until they leave premises. I sort of get why now.
