Nope, that was too soon.

Thanks, but no thanks. If you amputate my hands, I can't shoot myself in the head. Sorry folks, but that's how I feel about it.

Exactly. Saliva from all kind of animals contains nasty bacteria that could wreak havoc if introduced into an open wound. Saliva relies on bacteria — including various strep strains — to help it do its job. However, it can also be home to more dangerous bacteria and is especially susceptible to acquring real nasties (like staph) if you aren't a conscientious hand washer.

Now think of a dog. They will lick almost anything. They will sniff EVERYTHING and when they lick their noses to keep them moist, any bacteria they've picked up gets their mouths. If any of those wee beasties find their way from fido's tongue to beneath your skin, you can wind up with a nasty and even deadly infection. I read stories like this in the news pretty often and it's kind of scary. I don't have a dog right now, but I love dogs and take care of a family member's dog often when they are out of town. I try to limit doggy kisses as much as possible.

Some people love doggy kisses and I support that () but maybe keep them away from open wounds and sores on your skin.

Obviously, the dog voted republican. It's all his fault.

Yeah that’s what I was told. Their saliva has more power to fight bad bacteria and germs than ours. It seemed logical since they get into so much nasty stuff but still stay healthy, unless it’s something really bad.

I would advise caution about "how close" you get to your Canine.......the risks are well spelled-out in this story. I feel sympathy for the poor lady in this story.

Dogs love eating poop, dogs love rolling around in poop, dogs love being near and in poop. Fecal-matter is definitely a hazard to humans......a common disease-vector.

I don’t know if it’s antibiotic overuse creating superbugs, something in the environment or a combination but something is very wrong.
Maybe its the national fad of” I must have a dog”

It can be found in human saliva, too.
