Heard on the news many years ago: this father bought a brand new Mercedes-Benz SUV for his 16-year-old daughter's birthday. And that morning on her birthday she drove it on a highway and got into a big accident and died. How painful for her parents.
Some people had too much money and did not know how to use it wisely.
It sounds like you’re implying that she died because they bought her an expensive car. She may have died in an accident even if she had a $600 junker.

For a very young person, it's very easy to be excited to have a first very expensive car; thus, and if s/he is not very experienced yet, that feeling can distract to attention of driving. Therefore, there's more chance to get into an accident.
But you are right in your second sentence there. I won't debate with you about that.
Perhaps she drove like a maniac because it was a Mercedes, a behavior that could have been less likely with a junker.
I would make sense if it was a Ferrari or something, A Mercedes SUV is not exactly a sports car. I think it’s more reckless to get a teenager a 10-year-old Mustang then it is a brand new Mercedes.

True. But I’ve seen many wreckless speeding people of all ages in SUVs around here. I have a small car so I’m
particularly aware of it.
I’m not blaming her parents for getting her a Mercedes- all I can do is base my speculation on what I see around here.
In any case, we’ll ever know what happened to the girl, and it’s a tragedy no matter what she did or didn’t do.
May she RIP.
