Well, the Corona Virus is apparently a cocktail just waiting to be invented.

Note:
Cocktails made with beer are a dubious proposition. If that beer is Corona, all the worse. But there's no accounting for the palates of some who belly themselves up to a bar...

Sometimes in Mexico, United States tourists substitute drinking Corona for drinking water, so as to not get some sort of intestinal sickness from Mexico's water.

Isn't that how beer was mainly consumed in Britain (and probably other parts of Europe) during the Middle Ages? Water was contaminated, so everyone drank beer all day, including toddlers.

I don't think many people drink tap water in Mexico, it's all bottled drinking water including the ice.

It is a myth that water was not widely consumed in medieval Britain. It was. Extensive public works were erected for the purpose of delivering potable water to populaces in many cities. And, of course, most people did not live in cities with all the sanitary issues they entailed. Finally, the beer that was commonly consumed during the day by workers and at meals was small beer - made typically with the third running of a mash, and producing a beer with an ABV of less than 1%.

Beer has been around for thousands of years however by the seventeen hundreds, Gin became the popular alcoholic drink in England, mainly due to the restrictons placed on French brandy imports and the Government encouraging gin production.

However due to the drunkeness of the population, the Government decided to regulate and tax gin consumption, whch led to the gin riots.

Eventually beer which was cheaper replaced gin one again in the affections of the nation.

Someone told me that they didn't get to hear the whole news story at first, so they thought the virus originated in the nearby Corona, CA.
