As a tour bus driver in Yellowstone National Park all summer, Randall Champion saw his share of tourists acting stupid by disregarding park guidelines on viewing wildlife from a safe distance.

The latest example was a man who thought it was a good idea to film a scene unfolding in front of the hotel at Mammoth Hot Springs where three bull elk were competing for the same group of females grazing on the lawn.

I can't tell you the number of idiots I've seen at our national parks approaching wildlife to the point they could almost reach out and touch them. As far as I'm concerned they get what they deserve!!

Years ago I encountered one, the way things were, did not see him until I was right up on him. Big boy, huge rack, I stopped, started walking backwards, he was acting irritated, but did not do anything.

I ended up walking a ways around him. There was no herd or anything.

We have plenty of idiots here. Assateque Island is near me and it has a large herd of wild pony's. People think because they're pretty tame that they can walk right up to them. Duh! They're still wild animals and just like a cat, will get annoyed after a bit, but these animals are a lot bigger and back considerable more "punch" then a house cat!

When I was a kid one of my Moms friends took her two boys to Yellowstone.
They were feeding the bears and got bit several times.
We laughed our butts off when she told us this story.
I know we are mean huh?

Who does this?
The boys that did grew up to do other stupid things.

I like to imagine anyone from the "Yellowstone" Dutton family grabbing this idiot and kicking him in the pants. It would be especially fun if Beth did it.

Fictional idiot tourist behavior...

They really think the animals of the world are just like Disney movies or National Geographic documentaries.

You should see these people when they move "out to the country" and live next to livestock !!! Oh do I have stories.

When you enter Yellowstone, they give you a sheet of paper warning that the animals are dangerous and should not be approached.

Half a block into the park, there is usually a cluster of stopped cars blocking the road as their drivers walk toward a buffalo or elk. Complete and total morons.
