It's not about natural disasters. It's about stupidity.

There's a LOT more to New Orleans and US Gulf Coasts than just hurricanes, Javacoffee, that makes people want to live there.

Exactly. But I guess only stupid people live near the ocean. I doubt she will tell where she lives. Maybe tornado ally or a flood prone state or an earthquake zone? You know the place where all the smart people live.

We had Sandy several years ago but otherwise it’s pretty safe here.

If you have no escape plan... and you don't trust the weather reports and warnings...and you have no other place to go... and you have no transportation or money to get out of a hurricane's path, then why the heck would you live in hurricane alley?

Yes, I get that. It's not about the hurricane! How many times must I say that?
What I'm saying is, to chose to live in hurricane country, be forewarned of a hurricane approaching, yet wait for the government to.... aw, forget it.

The weather channel is reporting that all of New Orleans is without power. Does anyone know if the Superdome was used as shelter this time around?

Looks like answered prayers, at this time. Lots of power outages, which everyone expected, and may take weeks to fix, but I'm not seeing people swimming through flooding. Prayers for continued mild conditions.

All of new Orleans is not without power. You guys dodged a bullet. Looks like just another coastal hurricane. Lucky!
