"China’s version of TikTok, will limit use of the platform for children to 40 minutes a day.

The rules will apply to users under 14, who have been authenticated using their real names, and who will be able to access it between 06:00 and 22:00."

What do you think? Too restrictive? Not restrictive enough?

I don't use this type of social media, so on the one hand I don't care but on the other hand I believe strongly in personal freedom and I abhor any governing body imposing draconian limits on things even if the subject is deemed to be harmful.

They have also restricted video games for anyone below age 18 to 90 minutes on weekdays and 3 hours on weekends.

In my opinion, its just old farts sitting in Politburo who have nothing better to do, but get angry at them young kids playing useless video games. The new generation should be like us boomers who used to lay on the couch watching useless TV instead!

China will be ahead of the game because of this. I don’t like rules from governments however. I think parents should have the say, but it is a good idea for the Chinese.

If the CCP can keep Chinese teenagers sheltered from the rest of the world, then yes I agree with your statement. If not I would think this and the related policies would build resentment. Children don't always understand what is "best" for them until they become adults themselves.

Yet Americans don't realize how the tech companies are controlling their lives and selling their data.
