In Turkey, the owner of a cattle farm has experimented with virtual reality headsets on some of his cows to see if they can produce more milk. The virtual reality headsets create the illusion for the cows that they are outside in a sunny field.
Developed in cooperation with veterinarians to ensure cow safety, these VR headsets were first tested in Moscow, Russia.
I wonder if I could get my cat to wear a VR headset. Or is this kind of Russia plot?
An EU report on the animal welfare effects of rBST states that its use often results in "severe and unnecessary pain, suffering and distress" for cows, and is "associated with serious mastitis, foot disorders and some reproductive problems".
hmmm...the superior being overlords creating a virtual environment in order to increase and harvest the output of the inferior beings...sounds awfully familiar
Just once, I wish that all the sheltered urbanites splitting hairs over this non-issue could spend a few days rising at 5AM to milk amid the fragrance of cow manure.
And watch out for ol' Bessie's tail; she just emptied her bladder on it.
