Taariq Grant, 28, who rapped under the stage name Yngx 17, was identified as the victim of the Monday incident, according to The Los Angeles Times.
A verbal altercation between Grant, who was a pedestrian, and the driver of a white Toyota Tundra began on Monday afternoon, according to a statement from the Los Angeles Police Department.
“While stopped in traffic, the driver of the trailer became involved in a verbal argument with a pedestrian,” the press release states. “The pedestrian climbed on top of the left-wheel-well of the trailer. When the truck began to move, the trailer collided with a concrete barrier, causing the pedestrian to fall to the ground. The left-side wheels of the trailer then collided with the pedestrian.”
Following that, the Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene where they pronounced Grant dead.
