I've seen the unedited footage. The freefall tension wasn't the point of tension, it was during the slow-down that he was ejected.
I saw it too but I'm still not sure how/why he fell. The video I saw was too far up to make the exact cause clear. Does the video you saw clearly show what caused it? Link?
Someone here said he was a big "football" type kid. So we are not talking about some 5 foot 90 pound kid, more like an adult size person. I still think that cell phone video shows that something wasnt right as the ride took off.

It's really hard to say. I saw that something looked a little off as it was going up but it's way to difficult to know if it wasn't secure or not just from a cell phone video. Obviously we'll have to wait and see what the investigation shows.
Yeah, he basically slides right out as soon as the brakes kick in. I do think an extra seatbelt/lock would make sense for this very reason though.

I would like to see a link that shows that because it wasn't clear in the cell phone video I saw.
This video shows him slip out when the brakes kick in meaning the free fall didn't cause him to slip out but rather the force from the braking did. Then you can see the restraint appears to be all the way down still locked in place towards the end when people are getting off. Somehow he slipped through. Was it not locked far enough to hold him in? Was it a malfuntion?

Damn…
The manufacturer (Funtime) AND the park (ICON) deserve everything and anything coming at them for this… A simple belt would have prevented this. What in the absolute **** man…
Even without the danger of accidents, I don't really think the human body is designed for the forces of a rapid fall from 430 feet at speeds exceeding 75mph. It causes rapid changes in pressure that seem to me could have other consequences than falls. Why does everything always have to be bigger/taller/faster?
There are numerous "humorous" videos on YouTube of people actually losing consciousness on the Slingshot ride. Doesn't seem like fun to me! I guess people are bored with life and always looking for the next thrill.
The most disturbing part of that video to me was how casual some of the teenage staff and other riders seemed after witnessing what should have been a horrifying and traumatizing sight...

I’m surprised he fell out. You’d think his girth would keep him safe.
