That's terrifying, I'd probably react the same and soil my pants and vomit as well.

They were fortunate to come across locals that saved them from potential danger.

Probably not a good idea at all to go around in remote country areas off the road like that.

Aaron Payzant and Logan Howard were driving nearly 3,000 miles from Indiana to Cancun, Mexico. They were on a back road looking for birds to photograph, when out of nowhere, a truck raced past. What happened next gave them the scare of their lives.

That's pretty scary. And one of the reasons I have no desire to ever go back to Mexico for any road trip. They got lucky.

The guys with the guns were probably the good guys protecting their turf from drug runners and general marauders.... otherwise those young men would be dead.

It'll be a long time before my feet leave American soil.

It’s pretty dangerous here, too!

Who knew birdwatching could be so hazardous? Perhaps they should stick to a hobby such as stamp collecting while visiting Mexico.

Not where I live either. I really like birds but am content with the ones I can see without going anywhere. They all come to the window or the pool.

Awful story. I'm done with back roads (unless on a tour) forever, I think.

We used to take church youth groups down the Baja peninsula for mission work. When I had a .50 cal machine gun pointed at my head from about 3 feet away (manned by what looked like a 16 year old with a cold), we called it quits. We were stopped often by military people looking for people with guns, but it got really bad the last year. It was mostly military on the road and they told us we should not be there. Mexico is a scary place in some parts and the government is not in control of all areas.

Talking about vacation. This couple didn’t live there either. Lots of places in the US people vacation are dangerous. Just saying, vowing to vacation only in the U.S. doesn’t mean safety. We had a vacationing mother and daughter from Canada get stabbed to death at 10 am at a busy outlet mall in Atlantic City, by a woman just released from a mental hospital. This was years ago, but still.

Probably many of their friends and relatives responded with “I’d be scared to vacation in the U.S., I’m staying right here”. Just like any country there are safe and dangerous places.

Not where I vacation.
How much simpler can I make this for you?
