Maybe those cartels have a few RPGs but nothing sophisticated like Javelin missiles, attack helicopters, we could just waste them so fast.

That fentanyl bs needs to be stopped. It was all fun when they provided party drugs but now its this death poison.

In the old days I could be approached a dealer "you party" and say Xanax. Now I would not dare its likely fake, fentanyl poison.

We should seriously kick their ass over this fentanyl BS.
Are you willing to write a check to pay for all that? In case you hadn't noticed, we're already involved in a proxy war in Europe, having only recently pulled out of a wreck of a "war" in Afghanistan. And we're supposed to be buidling/rebuilding infrastructure, creating jobs, putting people back to work, stimulating the economy, not draining what's left of a ragged federal budget by getting into another war.

BTW, did you send a check to the IRS this month?

[quote=davidt1;63318757]China is a major source of this drug. I wonder if this is one of their "Unrestricted Warfare" strategies to bring down America. This is how you destroy a country without firing a single missile.

China outlawed fentanyl in 2019. It is manufactured in Mexico. Some chemical components used in the manufacture may come from China. Since the United States is constantly demonizing China and throwing obstacles to slow down their economic expansion, they may not be inclined to help in this matter.

Seems like a good idea. That fentanyl is BS. The number one killer of Americans aged 18 to 45 is now fentanyl overdoses.

Its not party drugs like cocaine and weed anymore. Time to just kick their ass.
So then the criminals would just increase the flow from China, India, etc. Are we sending troops to China to fight their drug cartels? I highly doubt it. India will increase production, or any number of other countries will step in. The demand will still be here, and money to be made, and there will always be people to fill that demand.

We are never going to stop the flow of drugs into the country. We have been pouring money into this for 6 decades now and it's only getting worse the more global our world is. We are not going to stop addiction by being tough and cracking heads. It's just rhetoric that appeals to certain people who like the "tough guy" solutions and want to believe the solutions for every ailment of society are that simple, but it's not any kind of actual solution to the addiction problem we have in this country. We should have learned our lesson from Prohibition, simply restricting access does not solve anything, it enriches criminal gangs and wastes trillions of dollars.

Yes, and we all know drug lords and smugglers always obey the law:

"Under international pressure, China's government banned the production and sale of fentanyl and many of its variants in May 2019, resulting in a significant reduction in the country's illicit fentanyl trade.

But more than a year later, Chinese vendors have tapped into online networks to brazenly market fentanyl analogs and the precursor chemicals used to make fentanyl, and ship them directly to customers in the U.S. and Europe as well as to Mexican cartels, according to an NPR investigation and research from the Center for Advanced Defense Studies, or C4ADS, a nonprofit data analysis group. (The center receives some of its funds from the U.S. and U.K. governments.)

Some of the substances are outlawed in China and internationally. Others are so new they are not yet banned, are harder to detect and regulate, and they can be used in basic chemical processes to produce illegal drugs.

Chinese vendors are often camouflaged by a complex network of corporate entities registered in far-flung cities along China's interior, where they use sophisticated shipping methods to bypass screening measures and where law enforcement scrutiny is often laxer than in bigger cities such as Beijing or Shanghai. Thousands of doses can be shipped together in small, hidden packages.

"Many Chinese networks involved in the production and advertising of fentanyl quickly adapted to increased legal constraints by modifying their techniques to exploit loopholes in chemical restrictions and disguise their activities," said Michael Lohmuller, a C4ADS analyst and report co-author.

And here's another one.

Customs confiscated 800 kilos of methamphetamine in Laredo, TX with a street value of $35M, from a tractor trailer containing strawberry puree trying to enter the US from Mexico.

The majority of every form of illegal drug comes into the US from Mexico. Some of the ingredients of some drugs come to Mexico from China.

A friend's son just died after taking another drug laced with fentanyl. Why would drug dealers kill their clients?

This is all made up hype, by the DEA imo, to make people scared to death...ultimately to justify the DEA continuing to get budget money!

The fact is, the DEA has failed miserably at their goal, and yet, support for the drug war continues to be very high?! Why keep pumping tax money, into a federal agency, that has proven it is not able to get this under control?

Another misconception here, dealers will charge MORE for Fentanyl...they dont just give it away by lacing other drugs, DUH. This entire 'Fentanyl is pure evil', comes directly from the scum bags at the DEA.

The first step is to ask the DEA, why they have failed so miserably, and why we should continue to fund their agency, when all they have done is ensure the drug cartels have a insanely profitable marketplace?

One other thing to keep in mind about the DEA...they are the ones, back in the 70s, 80s and 90s, that were LYING to us about the extreme dangers of Marijuana! My DARE instructor told us many times, that Marijuana was more deadly than Heroin or Cocaine, and they gave multiple examples of people now dead or in prison to back up their claim, (kind of like they are doing today with Fentanyl and opioids folks!) Dont believe them, they had a reason for lying to us about Marijuana, just like they do today with Opioids. One would think though, the brain trusts at the DEA, could come up with something new? Instead they just use the same old excuse as they did with Marijuana? LOL

How do you know Kara's friend's son didn't die from fentanyl? Have you seen the autopsy results? Do you know the son? Wow, if so it's a small world.

ps. I've heard that marijuana and opioids can cause jock itch.
