Do you have kids ? They cry over everything. You yell at them loud enough, they can break down and cry. Give me a break, the kid was crying lol.
I will be the first person to call out child abuse, this isn't it.
Yes, but this is the first I know of that was required to run a marathon.
Seriously guy. You know how most of us feel. Why do you continue to go on and on defending what to most of us is unacceptable parenting behavior? Is it just that you cannot stand to lose an argument? It ought to be clear to you at this point that you are on the wrong side of this one because of the virtually universal condemnation these parents are getting. The fact that you do not call out this behavior for what it is is frankly--disturbing.

We had a Gym class teacher sort of like this back in the early 90s, he was known as a tyrant. LOL, and frequently made kids run long distances, especially during May, when it was hot/humid outside!
I do remember a lot of whining and complaining from students at the time, but I DO NOT remember anyone suffering any health related problems as a result, everybody just did as they were told and got thru it.
Seems like kids were tougher in the past, a gym teacher would never be permitted to do these things today, but it was common years ago.
Right, kids did what they were told and had no recourse or platform to complain. There are pros and cons associated with the "good old days", right?
The running pace of the family in question was quite slow, basically a fast walk. Nevertheless, it's just wrong to have a 6 year old participating, IMO.
People make copies of the bibs to bandit a race all the time, or they pin on a bib that is similar in color and numbers (from another event). In a crowd that big, a few un-chipped bibs isn't going to be noticed and even if they made duplicate numbers, they won't be easy to spot. Unless they get the colors wrong then they'll stick out.
The worst part about bandits is when they use the aid stations, which takes away from the people who actually have paid for the services.
If that entire family bandited - which I believe was mentioned upthread that they had done so before - they are complete scum.
But one of the articles had race organizers saying they would follow the age restrictions "going forward" which makes it sound like they allowed him to race. And I have not seen any articles where race organizers stated the family didn't have permission for him to race. I would think they'd be quite vocal about that if that was the case.

Sorry, it was actually Post 10 here.
They have a lot of damage control to do right now. I just did a quick google and CPS was called on the family too.
This pic was in a review. "Unofficial" is just a nice word for bandit. So the family admits to being bandits and then the race director helps them out. There is so much wrong here it isn't funny. Guess rules are only for some people. This family can not only break the rules, but the race director helps them financially.

But that page in the pic says "9 years ago....". So was that a different family?

This family has been banditing the race for years, the Race director approved the entire family to run it this year. Mistakes were made from many adults all around

Actually, it sounds like he’s just here to toot his own horn.
Did the child require any medication attention after the marathon?
