Local Legislator: No One Should Ever Ride Bikes In Suffolk County « CBS New York

I used to ride patchogue-Mt. Sinai Road in Suffolk County 50 miles round trip every day. I know the area pretty well.

What a tool. Meager attempt at back peddling (no pun intended)

...and is it any surprise that Thomas Barraga is an (R)?

Has he ever done anything to try making the roads safer?

This country is the same all over. Police could nail traffic offenders all day and write citations to more than pay for their time on the job. It's pure BS. The govts dont really care. Put the hammer down on bad driving. It's so easy. If you get behind the wheel of 3000lbs you better make sure you don't f up. But no, waaa waaa, we don't want to get ticketed for our selfish driving.

They say that video proof is not enough to give a citation. I could easily get 10s of drivers breaking the law, doing dangerous things, on videotape and the license plate visible.

It really makes me want to be a police officer. Zero tolerance. 35000 people a year die on US roads. I'd say 1/3rd of drivers don't belong behind the wheel. That's THEIR problem if they have no other way to transport themselves. Driving is a privilege not a right.

A lot of people on both sides of the aisle think roads are for cars only.

Just exactly how does one ride bikes? That would be a very impressive feat.

I have a few bikes I ride. I often ride them over the course of a week. I even pass by Chuck Norris' house.

Do you get roundhouse kicked every time you ride by?
