I have been biking about 50 miles per week on my Mountain Bike for the past month and am losing weight. I am down to 142 lbs which is low for me. I am a male at 5' 10'. I cannot eat a lot because of stomach issues so I need some kind of supplement to help me to start gaining weight. I currently eat a banana and a boost before I ride and put Propel in my water. I plan on upping my weekly mileage since
I am going to Colorado at the end of July and I need to be in shape for the mountains. Can anyone recommend a supplement to help me that is not too expensive. Thanks.
You probably should up your protein. Try protein shakes. And bulk them up with oatmeal, avocado or peanut better (or other nut butter). Definitely try to eat more. Add in bigger snacks too. 140 at 5'10 is pretty slim.
At 140 lbs and 5'10" you shouldn't lose more weight, you're healthier at your current weight or slightly more. I'd actually recommend making sure to eat enough otherwise it might interfere with riding performance. During rides, carbs are essential. On very long rides, lack of carbs run the risk of bonking. I remember feeling like I wanted to fall asleep on the side of the road on a hill climb 100 miles into a 115 mile ride.
