NCN... there are actually two in Texas. One is down at South Padre Island (the one you would have probably noted in the tracking of Dolly). It's not that far (30-40 mins) from Galveston. The second one, and the better/more well known one, is just northeast on the outskirts of San Antonio in New Braunfels. This is the nationally recognized/ranked one. It's about 3 1/2 hours southeast of where I am (San Angelo, Tx).
I doubt we will even see cloud cover from the storm, but we hold out hope for rain... most of us remember what that is from out childhood, but it would be nice to show our children what rain is!
Steve,I have been to South Padre Island,it's so pretty out there.
Show us how to make your garlic chicken!
1. I take about 6-7 of those quick freeze chicken thighs (skinless, boneless) and boil them on medium heat until cooked.
2. I take 4 cups of uncooked jasmine rice (I think Jasmine rice is the most flavorful), and use one box (I think it's 48oz) of Swanson's Chicken Broth. I put the rice and broth in a rice cooker and let it do its thing... takes about 20 mins.
3. You can either use the small jar of pre-minced garlic (when I'm lazy) and use about 1 teaspoon of that, or I use a mortar & pestle to break regular garlic cloves into large pieces (about 5-6 segments)
4. Cut the chicken into bite-size (or desired) sizes, set aside.
5. In a large skillet, melt about 1/2 stick of butter. Drop the garlic in and cook on med-high until garlic just starts to brown.
6. Add chicken and mix to combine with garlic.
7. Add cooked rice and mix to combine all with the garlic and chicken. Add salt and pepper to taste.
8. Add soy sauce (not a lot... I use just for color, really).. the cooking gets rid of the overly salt flavor.
9. Mix well until rice mixture is consistent in color.
Then serve and devour!!
If you try this, please let me know what you think. If you were able to change something to make it even better, please let me know what that is, too!
Not a problem.. but I have to ask one question first, because it will relate to how I write the recipe... you fond of garlic, or you just like a little for flavor?
personally, I love garlic, so the more the better I guess.
Hmmm, yummie Steve. It's only 7:33 a.m. but the chicken sounds delicious. Will definitely try it. Maybe tomorrow...
Yesterday was a busy day so I didn't make it to show myself at CD very much.
And guess what, the photos arrived! Yippieh. When I looked at them I saw a completely different person. It's so strange what make-up and a different hairstyle can do. Will post a pic lateron.
Moreover some of the poses felt better than they look in the pictures but the portraits are really great.
My mom doesn't like them b/c she doesn't see me how I am. They are so ernest (?) but I'm such a happy girl, always laughing and smiling and making fun so they are completely different. But that's what I went to the photographer to, to get pictures of my in a complete different way.
The photographer also said I could come with my friend again. She will make another make-up and outfit and she'll take pics of us together. I guess then we'll do the more casual jeans and t-shirt look.
Okay what's to eat???
Banana
Lentil soup
yogurt with small chocolate chips
shared a piece of cake with DS
Salad/chicken wrap
some pieces of chocolate
Have a good nite!
