Hello Dallas nice to see you again. I have now decided to move to Dallas Texas. I based the decision on jobs and the responses I have received. Right now I am in Dallas and just returned from Houston a few days ago. I am looking for housing here in Dallas and need to know between Mesquite and Garland which is the better area to live in. Please help me chose between these two as I already know that Richardson and Plano and Frisco, McKinney and Rowlett are good areas to live in.

So if you can please help me with these two I would really appreciate it.

Thanks again.

I personally prefer Richardson.

Richardson is a town with a bunch of character. Downtown is lined with bars and clubs (mostly Arabic, but still). We went there on Tuesday and were amazed to see it was hard to get parking at 11pm. Great food, nice people, very diverse, and everyone gets along well. Its affordable too.

Plano would be my 2nd choice. Its really nice too. Its undergoing a lot of change right now. East and Central Plano would be my choices, West Plano is too uppity for me personally.

McKinney has a very nice downtown and you can still get some rural living on the outskirts if you wish, but its a bit far.

I'm not all that familiar w/Mesquite but if I were looking to buy a home, I don't think Mesquite would be at the top of my list.
I live in Sachse which is borders w/Garland so I am in Garland quite a bit. Most of the Garland I've seen, I would not live in, except for the northern part of Garland. All the other cities you've mentioned are nice places to live in, why are you considering Mesquite or Garland?

Im not a big fan of Mesquite. Garland is ok, but I think Richardson is nicer.

Since the OP stated it's between Mesquite and Garland...

I would say Garland. The firewheel area is really nice. I would give Garland schools the upper hand as well.

I lived 12 years in Garland and now live just north of there but am still there often. Between Mesquite and Garland, definitely Garland. The city has seems to have a much better grasp on dealing with what they have and planning for the future. It hasn't always been that way (which is a good part of why we moved). But having watched them over the last 4 years, I've been pleased with the turnaround.

Would like more info from OP, but OP said Mesquite or Garland, I'd choose Garland. Even if it's not non-Firewheel Garland vs. Mesquite, but especially so if we are talking about Firewheel area of Garland.

I'd prefer Garland, especially north Garland. Love the Spring Park area...
