I run an internet retail operation that is proving too overwhelming for my partner and myself to operate, and want to set up a fulfillment center, perhaps in Texas. Can someone give me an idean if Texas would be a good candidate, and if so, is the Dallas area good. I would build my own steel building on an acre or two in the outskirts and contract with someone to operate it, while I reside on Big island and manage the business from there.

Hi.. I owned several ecommerce websites that were profitable and then sold.. So im familiar with fulfillment.. Im not sure about the cost to purchase and build on land.. Personally, I wouldnt build.. How many sq ft are you looking for? Also how many docks? There are plenty of empty warehouses for 5 and 6 bucks a sq ft. in decent areas. So why purchase? Dallas is a good place to setup a shipping operation because its in the middle of USA.. So its 2-3 days to cali ground.. Then maybe 3-4 ground to florida.. 2-3 to chicago and 3 or 4 to NY Ground..

Commerical leases are very cheap here also. Plus there is no state income tax for Texas state either

plenty of commercial space for lease right now
Alliance is growing --
there are taxes on business operations--my husband has self-employment income and he pays some sort of state license fee/tax on his business even if there is not state income tax so check out with a TX attorney or CPA what you might be paying
and there will be sales taxes that you have to pay now that you actually have a business site in TX
