I am planning a career move to the Parkland/Children's Medical Center area of Dallas & hoping for input irt housing. Priorities are safety (I am a single female) nearness to work (I will be an "on call" resident), & ability to accommodate pets.
Thank you!

Your nearest area is going to be Oak Lawn and/or Uptown (click Real Estate / Residential).

Take Mockingbird or Inwood to Maple, Cedar Springs or Lemmon and turn right. Continue to the area between Dallas North Tollway and US 75. Do NOT venture into Reverchon Park alone.

You'll probly find other med center professionals in the Uptown area which extends along McKinney from near downtown at about Pearl St going north by east up to Knox St. McKinney runs parallel to US 75.

Use google maps and search for zip code 75219 to get a view of the immediate area.

Agreed. Best bets are Uptown (more expensive) and North Oak Lawn (stay north of Lemmon and east of Tollroad). Safe areas with lots to do that are a 5-10 min max drive to the Med Center area.

Do not look look west of the Tollroad around the Med Center. Even if some med students live there, it's generally lower income, almost 100% Hispanic, not safe (high crime/ drugs).

There are some brand new apartments right near Parkland and there are some new apartments in the "Design District" that are nearby.

Don't count out the M-Streets either--there are some great rentals there. Check Craigslist. Just stay north of Belmont St.
