Definitely some rough areas in that zipcode. Stay north of Walnut Hill Lane between Skillman and Abrams in that area.

Not too far away but closer into downtown Dallas are two other possibilities: Mockingbird Station and the Knox-Henderson area. I would visit ANY location BEFORE signing a lease and drive around a few blocks just to check out the surroundings. Both of the areas I mentioned are getting revitalized w/ new buildings and renovations of existing buildings. There is also the Victory area and around McKinney Ave closer to the American Airlines Center (aka AAC). Plenty to walk or ride a bike to in those areas. Right around Northpark Mall there are some nice areas (this is afterall one of the BEST malls in the entire Dallas area and attracts the VERY well-heeled crowd) so they are not going to let the entire area crumble into a crime infested ghetto. There has been a resurgance of revitilizing some of the areas around NorthPark Mall in the last few years w/ some nicer suite hotels and such. I would NOT go East of Central Expwy (Hwy 75) down Northwest Hwy at all!!!!!! Same goes for along Skillman in that area. The whole area of what was once The Village has become VERY rundown.

Like I said, before signing a lease on ANYTHING drive around the area for a few blocks to see what else is mixed in.
