Craig's List for Services in the DFW area (for sale, purchases)

What has been your experiences when using Craig's list (for household services, labor, purchases, etc)?

Many small business that advertise in the yellow pages are also starting to use the local craig's list..

I use Angie's List and that has been great! It does cost but it's minor compared to getting a crappy carpenter, etc. and having to fix their mistakes

I would not use craig's list to find help

Craigslist classifieds work fairly well. You will get a lot of spam emails if you use craigslist.
I'd suggest setting up a free gmail account specifically for that, if you plan to use craigslist.
Yes, the spam is that bad BUT I've sold a buttload of used goods using CL. I've also found great
deals on vintage music related items, antiques... etc.

CL is like the rest of the internet. Some of it is good, some is fluff and useless.

I have to say, placing used items for sale on CL... it WILL get seen by many locals to your area.
CL works. The spam is an issue... but, if items are selling-- filtering email spam is a small price to pay.

Craigslist is meant for consumers to sell locally. Don't post your items all across the country.
As far as finding services etc, I wouldn't use a CL for that. Businesses that post all over CL
are actually not following the terms of use agreement. They are spammers. CL provides one
or two sections for businesses to post free, but many businesses abuse craigslist. I would never
do business with a spammer, but that is just me.

Craigs list is great. I use it all the time to advertise my business. I get a lot of work from there. I do have to deal with spam but its not too bad.
