Interesting. That was a pretty insignificant comment that he got fired for. I'm pretty sure he'll get picked up by somebody else real quick.

They've most likely been looking for an excuse to fire him because he is also a contributor to Fox News as a Bill O'Reilly guest and I believe other shows as well. It is really pathetic that the "most open-minded" people (which is how all the NPR listeners who hate Fox that I know describe themselves to me, they hate Fox because they value diversity and openmindedness supposedly) can't handle dissent and a lively exchange of ideas, i.e. not everybody has to agree with you to be worthy of being listened to, people! I've listened to Mr. Williams on both Fox and NPR myself.

There should not be any humor about the people's republic of the soviet socialist national people's radio. Ten demerits.

In order to persuade the people to do what is in their best interests, to make them the most happiest, and to entice them through the gates of paradise, the communist Vietnamese use to go into the poor villages of South Vietnam to cut the heads off of young men. They would then take their heads and impale them on sticks displaying them by poking them into the ground for all to see. Say what you will about the ruthless tactics of these liberal North Vietnamese, but the people listened to them. This is why being too liberal is never a good thing. We need balance. We need baby blue conservative b@stard opinions just as much as we need hot pink liberal views.

No kidding, here's a thought, NPR fired Juan Williams because his remarks were "inconsistant with our editorial practices?" What about Sarah Spitz wanting Rush Limbaugh to die from a heart attack...why is she still employed? Apparently, wanting a right wing commentator to die falls within NPRs "editorial standards."

well said..You might also look at the latest on Obama who has decided to forgo visting a certain Sihk mosques while in India out of fear that the media will spin him wearing the obligatory head-wrap in a negative light..Don't overlook the importance of both these things I mention (wiliams & Obama) here, because they share something very similar. A core value to the modern day liberal mentality..It is all how it looks on the outside..Even though a muslim in an airport getting on you plane would raise an eyebrow for most Americans, God forbid we say it, it might sound bad, or offend someone. At the end of day the, his comments and any comments don't change who you are, Muslim or not. This is the mentality that needs to be adopted..

It's all about perception, that's the liberal mentality in this country most of us complain about. Personally, this mentality and political correctness has no place in America and will most likely be voted out in Nov.

Great point..But supposedly she was not an actual employee of NPR but KCRW..Either way, they air NPR, are their leading "affiliate" and probably have the same useless matra-particularly since their listenership is mainly the idealistic college crowd. So in essence, you are right, fire her too.

Eh. I think both political sides care about how it "looks on the outside." We have no room for nuance anymore. We listen to radio or news that plays on our bias and tells us we were right all along. No reason to think critically or investigate the source facts ourselves. Everything is all spin all the time.

Conservatives and Liberals both have their "sacred cows." For example, a Republican would be promptly dismissed should he ever say anything nice about a Democrat, a trial lawyer, or Planned Parenthood. Saying something negative about our wars overseas or George W. Bush would amount in a swift firing or suspension. So I think both sides have their "political correctness." One side will get booted out and the process will begin anew.
