What about Gunter which has a really good school district and wouldn't require a commute on 75 or Denison or Pottsboro?

Thanks for these suggestions. I looked at Denison and it seems a lot like where I live now so I am not attracted to that area. I will look at the other two you mentioned and some more around that area.

I said that Sherman has some nice older homes, but McKinney has a wonderful historic distric, with a great historic downtown that is within walking distance of McKinney's older historic homes.
My wife and I go to downtown McKinnney about once a month to walk around and shop at the antique stores. So, no matter where you end up, I highly suggest that you visit downtown McKinney since it sounds like you will either end up in Grayson or Collin county. Good luck!!!

Thanks! I looked at some videos of McKinney online. My fiance says that McKinney seems to be very similar to Schaumburg, IL, Palatine, IL and Arlington Heights, IL. We've lived in those areas and love how the cities were planned. I think we probably will be in Grayson or Collin. We will need all the luck we can get! Thank you.

I just wanted to encourage you to keep your dream of having a pool. You will be shocked at how hot it is in the summer and there is nothing like hanging out in your backyard pool. You might go down on the size of your house but I would beware of older homes as they often have single pane windows and not the energy efficient features you need to keep your bills in check. I had an older home with a pool and it added about 125/mo in electric year round. (but we did not cover it in winter...that might lower that ). I am afraid you will not get the big yard though with the newer homes. Enjoy your search and don't be rushed. You might want to rent something to get to know the area before you settle...
