ok, I have a sister who lives here, but I still want some input.

We are an AA family with 2 daughters, only one will still be in HS when we move. So I am looking for an ethnically diverse area, with a good school district, specifically good high school...nice neighborhoods, with churches and good commute areas.

My husband works in the legal field and I am healthcare.

Please let me know what counties and areas we should be looking at!

The suburb of Arlington, conveniently located between Dallas and Fort Worth, would be one area to consider. It is ethnically diverse with a decent school district. (I hear that Martin is the high school of choice). Arlington is a good sized suburb with lots of shopping and family entertainment and activities. Due to the size, there are alot of churches to choose from and a variety of differnt types of neighborhoods. Arlington is also home to University if Texas at Arlington (UTA).

The first question you should answer is where will the two of you be working?

Definitely find a job first, then research where to live. There are great areas within commute distance of all the major emplyment hubs.

What you don't want to do is buy a house in say Richardson then get a job in say Keller/Fort Worth. These areas look close on a map but would not be much fun to drive in real life.

I had read an article a couple years back about Rowlett being popular with upper middle class African Americans. I'm not sure if there's anything to justify that though. The eastern suburbs in general are very diverse though, particularly the Garland/Richardson area. The northern 'burbs tend to be a little less diverse, and places like Highland Park are almost exclusively white. You could probably find a job in the health care field just about anywhere, as there are doctors offices and hospitals all over. Most of the major law firms are downtown, so you would want easy access to the highways.
