you won't find "somewhat upscale" for $900/mo anywhere near the Galleria area (which is where his office is). I would look in the Village Apartments in northeast Dallas (basically at intersection of Lovers & Greenville). It is a 15 minute drive max to his office, but also easy access to US 75 to Okalahoma. It is a very safe, pretty area - lots of apartment complexes that all share greenspace, ponds, "country club" with tennis courts, pretty social area and very close to shopping at NorthPark Mall and in Old Town Center on Greenville (lots of restaurants, Central Market, etc). Close to Uptown/Downtown for nights out & entertainment, just a few blocks from 2 Targets (one regular, one Super Target) and a brand new Wal-Mart/Sam's complex (1st of its kind).

Addison would be closer to work but it's not as good for your money (desirable location & amenities-wise) as the Village.

Since you mentioned Plano, in your opening post, I would suggest Downtown Plano as a possibility.

There are at least two fairly new apartment buildings in downtown which would be near a few restaurants and shops. Plus it would be an easy walk to the DART Train which you could take into Dallas if you desired, to increase your options.

A plus would be you could jump right on 75 to head back to Oklahoma and you could take either 75 down to 635 and over to the Dallas Parkway or take Bush over to the Parkway, then down.

I would suggest looking over any areas you think you’re interested in and making a drive during the times you would likely be making your commute.
