My husband and I are really considering Arlington around Lake Arlington. We have looked at test scores and ratings. Are Ditto and Little Elementary Schools and Martin High as good as the scores and ratings? Or are they just good for Arlington. We are also considering homes that fall into Mansfield High. We are looking at Grapevine but the prices for what you get are much higher. We want a low crime area that our kids can feel safe in. We would also like to have convenience and be able to walk to things. We would like to be in an area where the levels of limited English and economically disadvantaged is lower. And we are fine with diversity but would like to have a white ethnicity presence in the area. Thank you for any advice!!

There are a lot of people who will say very negative things about Arlington but I like it. You will definitely get more home for your money in Arlington and Ditto, Little & Martin are good schools. There are not many places in the suburbs where the "walkability factor" is high. Grapevine and Keller schools are more highly rated, however, so it certainly would hurt to at least look at homes in your price range. Mansfield has very high property taxes, so consider that when you are looking for homes. Don't overlook your commute; it is very frustrating to drive in traffic around here, so a big factor in your decision should take your commute to/from work into consideration.
