Call me crazy, but I think that my/our property taxes are high in Texas.
Maybe we have it better than we think???

I think Texas taxes are outrageous.

Compare them to other states in the area ( OK,AR MS , MO)

In fact, just compare like property on each side of the Texas/Arkansas border and you'll see what I mean.

Agree with Murphy. We moved here from MD. I calculated what we paid in income and property tax in MD vs the property tax we pay here in TX.

All together we come out very slightly ahead here in Texas - but bear in mind we have twice as much house than the house we sold in MD. So we're paying a higher rate, but it's on a much lower value. Throw in the lack of income tax and I believe you'll find that it's cheaper here than in most other areas.

You... you mean all those taxes they take out of my check, which I never see because I have direct deposit, don't include my state income tax? What the heck are all those taxes for?
