Dallas seeks to bridge concrete ring that surrounds downtown | News for Dallas, Texas | Dallas Morning News | Latest News
In a prior thread, I submitted the idea of connecting downtown Dallas and the Dallas Fair Park with a new Midway. In other words, the new Midway would use existing streets and, some of the blocks, perhaps, to connect the two areas. One entrance into the State Fair of Texas would be at the east side of downtown. This would kill multiple birds with one stone. As that particular part of the State Fair would be closed off for a month of every year, parts of it could remain open as permanent exhibits all year round. The huge Ferris wheel could be moved. A lot of those classic rides could be spaced out along the way.
One benefit to this is the huge area left at the center of the Fair grounds. This could be utilized for a huge plaza, a permanent circus perhaps, and other possibilities.
