Hello fellow teachers..

I am from Northern VA and maybe looking to relocate to the DFW area. Show I come down when the job fairs are open or should I call each individual school that has an opening and get an interview that way?

Thanks

Tim

run a search on this forum and any other for TEACHING JOBS and read the posts

for most people job fairs are a waste of time
for a few people they lead to an interview there and maybe a job offer

FOR ANY job fair you have to apply beforehand on a district's web site--
you are told to do that--and that IF you have qualifications the district needs, you will get scheduled interview...
but most applicants don't get that follow up call--

Districts do not usually give someone who calls up an interview without screening their application and referrals
this area is highly competitive for variety of reasons--
which the past posts explain...

To get right to the point, don't think DFW is job nirvana for teachers. Teaching jobs are in short supply here too.

IF you do come for job fair or interview, would hope that you don't make similar usage mistakes.

Health & PE? Good luck because you're going to need it. That is one area that keeps getting cut further and further- some elementary schools in DFW area don't even offer PE anymore and most middle/high school PE/Health teachers double as coaches and secondary subject teachers (science, history, etc).

I would really not leave wherever you are if you're currently employed. If you must move due to spouse's job, I'd start brushing up on a second subject and plan to get certified to teach that, too (or instead).

I've heard health is getting cut across the board in high schools as well. It's a shame, too. I think it's a really important subject for the kids to go through.
