So we were cleaning the kitchen for my mother's visit and we've both come to realize we HATE our cooktop. (1980's vintage GE Profile series.) We want a new cooktop that is easy to clean, gas or electric is fine with me, the current one's electric, but gas is piped under the cabinet too.

I'd like to find a design center where I can view a number of options.

Great Indoors, I think there is one in Plano, I know there is one at Alpha and the tollway across from the Galleria.

Also, Home Depot Expo is on the northbound access road to the tollway, just north of Alpha.

Excellent. I tried checking Lowe's and Home Depot's web sites, but for some reason their "refinements" don't let you select appliances based on size. I guess no one ever needs to easily find a replacement 30" countertop....

If you don't mind the drive you can go out to Rockwall to my favorite appliance store. I don't buy appliances anywhere else. They have the main store on the square in Rockwall on Kaufman St and then they have a "chip and dent" store out on I-30. The name of the place is North Texas Appliance and they are open on Saturday's. You can take the kids and go out and check out what they have and visit Bass Pro down the road and hang out and eat on the deck of one of the restaurants out there. Make a day of it. I bought my most recent purchase w/ them at their chip & dent store - the "mark" was a small dinky spot of adhesive on the front of the washing machine, lol. Came off easily at home with some elbow grease but I saved a couple 100 bucks. They have the best assortment of appliances than any place else and they actually KNOW about the appliances.
