Don't forget Allen--it's got some of the perks of a newer area like McKinney, but it is closer to Plano. Schools are good too. For what you are looking for Allen, McKinney, or Plano will fit the bill. If you want a more country atmosphere, you might check out Prosper, though it will add to the commute.
