I think there have been a number of discussions on this before...use the search option above to see.

Also, check out the forums at frisco-online.com. I've seen lots of info posted there about this topic.

Bottom line, there's a lead smelter in Frisco, and yes there are high levels of lead around the site. It wasn't a problem until a sh*t ton of transplants decided Frisco was the "it" place to be and developers started building subdivisions near it.

The smelter, along with Frisco's seedy past as a town full of cat houses are two things the locals don't like to bring up.

Um ok thanks Blue... It's very clear how you feel about the "transplants." sorry to upset you but if someone would kindly give more info on this I'd appreciate it. can anyone clarify the area of the smelter? I tried searching but was still not sure... And is this going to be a continued problem in the future since I know they are trying to make changes?

Thanks!

I honestly wouldn't live within a 2 mile radius of the plant in any direction. That should keep you reasonably safe.

As far as transplants go, I don't have a problem with them in general because I for one am one of them.

I do, however, have a bit of a rub with the pretentious nature of Frisco's transplants. They like to think their crap doesn't stink and that they're on par with Southlake and the Park Cities (which couldn't be further from the truth). They pejoratively refer to the suburbs near Frisco as "blue collar" and turn up their noses at people who don't live in "The 75034." Living in the shadows of a one of the most contaminated industrial sites in the south and a bunch of former whorehouses is a way to knock 'em down a peg or 3.

Frisco tends to spew a lot of hot air into the rest of the Metro area.
