Hi everyone, I have an old set of original Advent loudspeakers from the 1970's. They are in excellent shape, however the foam around one of the woofers has started to decompose. Does anyone know of a reputable repair shop in Dallas that I could contact to have it restored?

Thanks!

Yes. A couple of things you could do.

Go to Parts Express

http://www.parts-express.com/wizards...AT&srchCat=373

and get the surrounds and you can replace them, or go to

Freeman-Tuell Speaker Service LLC

on Furgeson north of 80 in East Dallas. They have done some of mine.

I did mines myself. It was very easy to do and I got the surrounds off Ebay. Used a glue I got from Walmart in the Fabric section. It is a easy thing to do.

Check out Freeman-Tuell Speaker Service on Ferguson Road in Dallas.

This is a professional speaker repair company that is highly recommended in local Dallas audio circles. I used this company several years ago to replace the foam surrounds on a pair of 12-inch JBL woofers. I highly recommend them for a professional repair if you are not willing to tackle the job yourself.

[EDIT: A tip of the hat to PanTerra for beating me to the punch with a speaker repair company suggestion!]

Thanks! I found a kit online, but figured I would call and see how much it would cost to have it done professionally. I'm not afraid of tackling it myself, but if it isn't too expensive, I will have it done professionally.
