Does anyone know any link or pointers to clarify whether it is legal in Texas to have GPS dash mount on the dashboard (not in the windshield)

I already searched google for quite sometime and could not get a proper link to clarify this, I do see lots of people having it but wanted to know whether it is legal in Texas to have it like that.

Thanks.

I've never heard of a dashmounted GPS being illegal anywhere. I think windshield mounted units are illegal in California (possibly other states). Call your local DPS office to be sure and talk to an officer. But I'm 99.9999% sure that dashmounts are legal.

My husband and I drove all over CA 2 months ago with our GPS mounted on the windshield, and no one said anything to us about it being illegal.

Just because you were doing something illegal doesn't mean you would get caught.

I am trying to find similar link from the Texas Transportation department to be clear of what is legal and what is not but I am not able to find.

Thanks.
