+1 Pasand

Also look into Iravat ( Iravat ~India's Bistro~ )

or for a much more casual experience The Spice Rack ( http://www.yelp.com/biz/spice-rack-plano ) which is attached/inside an Indian grocery store. I think the food there is very good - although you will come out of there smelling like you've been cooking Indian food for the rest of the night as it has an open kitchen.

What's great about Pasand is that, unlike the typical Indian restaurant in the US, they serve both North and South Indian Cuisine.

North Indian Cuisine is the stereotypical indian food: curries, naan, tandoori chicken.

but South Indian food is really good too, just that the typical non-Indian doesn't know about it and isn't familiar and if it's not curry, they don't try it: I'm referring to Dosas (The long crepe-like things), idli, sambar, etc.

If you like Indian food but are not familiar with South Indian food, you really are doing yourself a disservice by not giving it a chance. That's why Pasand and places like it (Iravat is like that too) are awesome: You can get both North and South Indian food. When I eat Indian, I'll usually have a Dosa (Which comes with Sambar) as an appetizer, and then for the main course get some curry (usually Vindaloo of some kind) with naan and rice. Really good stuff.
