Hello,
I keep reading real estate ads that say "near greenbelt" or by "greenbelt" what exactly is this and is that part of dallas safe? I am looking to by a home and one that I particularly liked is by the "greenbelt" should I buy in this area? The property is off canada drive. If anyone knows any info please fill me in. Also, I was in Texas for about a week so I got a feel for the area and I looked at homes but I never saw this greenbelt.

The "greenbelt" next to canada drive is the Trinity River, which is poised to be developed into the Trinity River Project, arguably the most ambitious project of the city of Dallas today.
Trinity River Project - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Buying there is a gamble. The area off canada drive appears run down (there are homes for sale costing about 30k and there is a reason for the ultra low price) but if the greenbelt development is a success, it could be worth a LOT of money in the next few decades. It is probably the area with the most appreciation potential in DFW.

The term "greenbelt" is not a specific location. It refers to an area of undeveloped land or could be a small inter neighborhood park in an area, subdivision or neighborhood. Some greenbelts have walking/bike trails thru them, some are totally undeveloped while others have more park like features such as ponds, lakes, playgrounds, etc. Properties that back up, border or across from a greenbelt are normally considered more desireable as you won't have another house behind you, across the street or beside you.
