My husband and I will be moving to the great state of Texas in June. He will be doing a cardiology fellowship at UTSW, so we need a decent commute time, a nice and safe area (we have two kids) and good school system. All that being said, I have done a LOT of research and have a pretty good feel about Richardson. I just want to hear from those of you who live there or around there how it really is. We're wanting to rent a 3-4 bedroom house for around $1600/month (give or take). Or....if there are any millionaires out there who have a 4 bedroom guest house they want to rent out for a reasonable price? I'll clean your pool.

I think the best schools will be in 75248 (Dallas address, but RISD) or 75080 zip codes.

I agree with the 75080 area, if you are wanting Richardson.

The commute to UTSW could be a little long, depending on what you think is long and what time of day the commuting would take place. Guessing around 45 min in traffic with no wrecks.

I am also moving to Dallas for cardiology fellowship at UTSW in June. We (my wife, daughter and dog) are looking to rent as well, preferably in an area a little closer to the hospital. Any suggestions anyone? We're looking for a house with a fenced in yard in a safe area.

If you target 75248 - Brentfield Elementary school attendance zone you will be in the city of Dallas, Richardson school district in one of the best elementary schools in the district if not the best and you will be close to the Dallas North Tollway which is the fastest way to get to UTSW with a back way of Inwood Road.

When I googled the commute time from Richardson to Parkland Hospital, it said with traffic it would be about an hour? Does that seem right to you? If so, I guess Richardson is out.

Yes, it does. Richardson is a LONG drive away from UTSW!

So are most neighborhoods worth living in for a family.

That's why you want to scoot over to 75248 - access to the Dallas North Tollway.
