1ST off, thank you to all who've answered my questions thus far. They've been real informational (which is why I gotta make a new thread) I am also curious to know how soon should I start applying to jobs in Dallas. I wouldn't want a HR person to go and discover I am a qualified candidate, then realize I'm available 1 1/2 months away. Would that deter them from hiring me to work that time.
I ask because I am planning to be in Dallas in the beginning of march. Should I start applying and searching now (
resumes/cover letters/etc.) or should I wait until at least after valentines day? Thank you for your $0.02. Enjoy your day and be safe.

hate to say this but completing an application with false information is a firing offense in most companies--and TX is a right to fire state--meaning companies need no real reason to terminate you

what is you get incredibly lucky with your initial application and they offer you the job--right now--
what are you going to say????

Start applying and searching. If someone REALLY wants to hire you and feels you are worth waiting a month for then they'll wait.

Your resume is going to look MUCH stronger once you have a Dallas address on it. Why send in an out-of-state app now if they're just going to toss it because 1) they need someone NOW and 2) they're not going to pay to relocate you.

Unless you are a mid-level professional (and judging from your red ink type.....) who can work with a trusted head-hunter in Dallas, I'd just wait until you get here. Do you have $1,000 to blow on a last-minute plane ticket & hotel if someone calls tomorrow and wants to interview you on Thursday- take it or leave it?

Totally agree here, and I AM an HR Manager! When we call for an interview, it is usually a couple of days out at the MOST. Not being available for an interview means getting passed over for another candidate who can interview tomorrow and start on Monday.

Come down, stay in a cheap, extended-stay hotel, and look for a job once you get here.

Exactly, we called two people this morning for an open job that pays around $50-60k. One came out this afternoon and the other one is coming tomorrow am.
