The view from Victory Park:

Dallas-Fort Worth Commercial Real Estate News - Business News for Dallas, Texas - The Dallas Morning News
By STEVE BROWN Real Estate Editor
19 January 2011

...Now the renewed building boom has gone high-rise with the construction of a residential tower.
The 23-story apartment building is going up on Hi Line Drive in the Dallas Design District, just across the freeway from Victory Park.

Houston-based PM Realty Group is building the 314-unit high-rise, which will open in mid- to late 2012.
PM Realty is the same company that built the residential tower in Dallas’ Park Lane complex across from NorthPark Center mall.

“This will be of similar quality,” said Bryant Nail, PM Realty’s senior development officer. “We think that the timing is perfect to start this project.”

I saw this report this morning. Flummoxed here. You have ghost town central (Victory Plaza project) next door and they are building a new apartment building?
Boggles my mind.

Also, will this be connected to the rail station? I know its on the other side of the highway ..but i hopefully they thought of this detail. It be nice if residents could do that.

Have you been to the Design District lately? Oak Lawn is in close proximity to Victory too but doesn't mean it's a ghost town.

Wow, a 23 story apartment building in the DD?!?! Few people saw this one coming.

Hopefully, the new residents of this complex will help to breath life into Victory.

I remember seeing some sort of connector to DART/Victory under the freeway -- not sure if that was a plan or what..

It may have something to do with connecting the Katy Trail to the Trinity Stand Trail.

Maybe the people who were upset that DART put the station on the west side of Victory rather than run it up Houston Street in the middle were wrong!

The only thing missing is a motel chain's large neon sign raised on steel crossbracing on the roof.

There are already three large apartment complexes in the Design District. Its actually a surprisingly nice area. Nice landscaping. Especially on Hi-Line. Lots of nice galleries and of course, the new apartment complexes there. Not far from Victory Station either. The key word is apartment. There is huge demand for apartments in the entire area. That's why you're seeing lots of new construction around the inner city Dallas area. You'll probably see a few more of these since the supply is so far behind.

Nice!

I know exactly where that will be.

23 stories should put it somewhere around 200 feet tall or about half the height of the W.
