"As of Sunday, the host committee website listed 94 hotels in D-FW with available rooms.

Prices ranged from $639 a night at the Embassy Suites Downtown Fort Worth to $140 a night for hotels in Forney, Plano and Denton. The average was $265.

The list did not include any of the major downtown Dallas properties, which typically command higher rates, because those rooms already are spoken for..."

Fort Worth being much closer to the stadium I don't understand why people would choose to stay in the Dallas area instead of Fort Worth. It makes a whole lot more sense, but then again out of towners don't have much sense.

Superbowl is more than just one game - there are events all over the metroplex. From what I've seen, Dallas would be closer to most of the action.

If by "much closer" you mean exactly 3 miles closer, then, yes, Fort Worth is "much closer."

Fort Worth's city limits are a lot closer than Dallas' from the stadium.

East Chase is just a stones throw away from the new stadium which is considered East Fort Worth.

City limits are meaningless. I used to live off of 360 and Trinity Blvd in "Fort Worth." But my lifestyle had much more in common with Euless or Arlington than urban or "real" Fort Worth. Travelers don't want to stay in east suburban Fort Worth that might as well be Euless. Travelers want to stay near downtowns. And staying in downtown Fort Worth hardly puts you closer to the stadium than downtown Dallas.

Actually I find Fort Worth's nightlife to be way more centralized vs. Dallas where you have to drive all over the place to club or bar hop unless you stay in one particular area like Main Street, Oaklawn, or Lower Greenville.

Fort Worth's downtown is buzzing with activity day & night.

Maybe when Uptown is connected with Downtown things will change, but as of now Dallas' nightlife is very fragmented.

I can agree with Fort Worth having the better downtown nightlife as of today. But I grew up in Fort Worth, too. Most people forget how dead as a doorknob (and somewhat scary) DT Fort Worth was up until the mid to late 1990's. It can change fast.

I think Downtown Dallas is doing all the right things to go in the same direction. Foot traffic has increased 10-fold since I moved to Dallas a few years ago. Right now most foot traffic seems confined to Main Street in downtown. But as more people start discovering downtown Dallas again, it will grow and spread out just like it did in Fort Worth a decade and a half ago. People choosing to stay in downtown Dallas for the Super Bowl will have no shortage of nightlife, and there are public transport options to take them into Uptown, Victory, and other locations.
