U.S. actor Larry Hagman is to appear in a TV remake of classic 1980s soap opera Dallas, cable network TNT announced Tuesday.
The 79-year-old will reprise his role as scheming oil baron J.R. Ewing in the new pilot, which will centre on the fortunes of the next generation of Ewings.

I turned down the role and asked them to give it to Larry for old times sake. I wonder if they will kill off Bobby again ?

That could be interesting. Maybe they could get the same lady to kill him again...lol. I think her name was Catherine? (played by Morgan Brittany).

Please say it ain't so....why in the heck do they even want to rehash this show? Are writers hard up to find or come up with something original?

At least its not another so called reality show.

TNT has not confirmed when production will start, so who knows if it will ever be a series or not. It was a good old show, I doubt a new version will be the same quality. Nothing else on TV is.

I always thought Dallas was a terrible embarrassment to, and parody of, Texas.

Parody, yes, but one of the the main characters is a native Texan (Larry Hagman, born somewhere in the DFW area).....and every time he'd flash that evil grin, I'd just crack up.

I enjoyed all but the last two seasons!

Texans have always been able to laugh at themselves--at least this one has. It has never bothered me what outsiders think of Texas and Texans. After all--if we're so horrible, why does this state have 25 million and counting?!?

It will be interesting to see what they come up with, and it will--most likely--be a disappointment.
