The tent on The Cotton Bowl field collapsed because of the winter storm, so the party was moved to The Coliseum.

Quote:

"We were excited about hosting a tented party on the Cotton Bowl field, but the entrance tunnel has been covered in a thick layer of ice," said Jason Hutchins, President of XLV Party. "We're moving our party to the Fair Park Coliseum, an indoor venue, to ensure the comfort and safety of all our guests."

Ohhhhhh.......

The Coliseum was also used for basketball. The Dallas Chaparrals
(now the San Antonio Spurs) played there from 1967-1973.

Its like the Coliseum is forgotten. They should expand the area or renovated it. It could be a music venue or something.

I think this is the first arena in Dallas

The Fair Park Coliseum

Built 1955
capacity 7,513

I went to a freeze game once. That was fun to watch, kind of like keystone cops on ice. But you didn't have to wait for the end of the game for things to get really exciting.

I don't remember the Chaparrals playing at Fair Park. They DID play most of their games at a different colliseum - Moody Colliseum on the SMU campus. Played a few at the Memorial Auditorium (in Dallas Convention Center) too. I went to several of their games when I was in high school. I remember they changed their name to the Texas Chaparrals for a couple of years and played a couple of years in Ft. Worth, but eventually came back to Dallas before moving to San Antonio when they went into the NBA.

Used to see some Blackhawks games at Fair Park. But the first ice skating rink wasn't in the Colliseum. It was in an old building that was torn down in the '60s about where Hans Mueller sets their tent up during the fair. I used to go ice skating there as a kid.
