Well except for the fact, for example, the forest on the East Coast engulfs the entire areas of urban NYC, BOS, MON, CHI, DC, BAL, PHL TOR CLE, PIT, CHL, ... etc etc

Anywhere else, your "urban forest" would simply be called a park or a preserve.

I don't know where largest this and that is coming from, but it's practically undevelopable like the Rumney Marsh Reservation.

It surrounds them, sure. The Piney Woods of East Texas are supposed to be the largest forest land within any state but that doesn't make Quadrangle Park here in Longview a particularly large urban forest.

Re: TH: largest urban park (fwd)
largest urban forest in US is Forest Park in Portland OR

never thought that being "taller than a telephone phone" exactly qualified a tree to be in a forest--
if there are telephone poles around that is not exactly my idea of "forest"

I am thinking more east TX like the Huntsville National Forest

I can google as well.

The Great Trinity Forest is the largest urban hardwood forest in the US.

consider the source--private company based in Dallas--

In 2005, a program called Groundwork Dallas was begun to address the nature-oriented recreational opportunities in the Great Trinity Forest and the adjoining neighborhoods. This organization is sponsored by the National Park System, the Environmental Protection Agency, the City of Dallas, and a number of local businesses and individuals.

The EverGreen Land Co. is also a financial sponsor of the trail-building effort within the forest. Additionally, the CEO of our company is a volunteer leader of Groundwork Dallas. The company intends to have a long-term, significant commitment to this organization in order to help connect the people of Dallas with the natural beauty of the Great Trinity Forest.

Um ok. You should research things before posting an answer you found on google.

Forest Park in Portland is 5,100 acres. The Trinity Forest is 6,000 acres.

Wikipedia also lists the Great Trinity Forest as having more acres than Forest Park and they're currently expanding the GTF.

It's cliché to rag on Wikipedia, but I've seen so much erroneous information on there, with their know it all authors defending their entries religiously, that even if uncontested, peer reviewed hard science or engineering research papers are facsimilied into its pages in part or in whole, I'd second opinion the source.
